BMW Concept Roadster is a Sexy Streetfighter
When compiling a list of the must-attend European gearhead events, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este – happening this weekend on the grounds of the historic Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on the Italian shore of Lake Como – should have a place reserved for it near the tippy-top. Not only does it regularly feature a fantastic array of stylish cars and motorcycles both old and new, but the setting is, unsurprisingly, gorgeous.
And as the Concorso’s corporate patron, the BMW Group (read: BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce) has made a tradition of using the event as a coming-out party for new design studies and concepts. For 2014, though, the company decided to break with tradition for its namesake brand by rolling out a BMW motorcycle instead of a BMW car. Dubbed the Concept Roadster, this sharply-dressed streetfighter bike looks customized right out of the box with a lengthy rear swingarm, sewer-sized tailpipe and vibrant accent colors.
Better still, it’s got about as much go as it does show, thanks to the 1,170cc flat-twin producing 123 horsepower and 92 lb.-ft of torque. There are no plans for production, which is a real pity. We think the Ducati Diavel could use some competition from the other side of the Alps…
