These days, developing and building any car is a complicated process. But this is even truer of the most sophisticated racing cars on earth: The cars that contest the Formula 1 World Championship. Each of the 11 teams currently participating endeavor to create an open-wheeled missile that is safe, reliable, legal per an FIA rulebook that’s twice as thick as Dwayne Johnson’s neck (give or take a few inches) and, hopefully, faster than everyone else’s. Oh, and they have to go through the whole process every year.
So you can imagine just how extraordinary it is that Infiniti Red Bull Racing, the winner of both of F1’s championships (for driver and constructor) for the last three years (and almost certainly this year), is the team that’s offering up the video seen here. It’s the first in a series chronicling the processes involved in bringing a modern Formula 1 car to the track, and the people who are responsible for executing said processes. And it should go without saying that we’re eagerly awaiting subsequent episodes.
