Gemballa is an auto manufacturer that has been pumping out cars based on Porsche models for over 25 years. They have been extremely busy this month releasing the following:
GEMBALLA AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R (based on 911 Turbo)
GEMBALLA TORNADO 750 GTS / 4 (based on Porsche Cayenne Turbo)
GEMBALLA MIRAGE GT Special Edition (based on Porsche Carrera GT)
If that wasn't enough, they have finally announced full details and pricing on their GEMBALLA MIRAGE GT Carbon Edition (if the Special Edition wasn't special enough for you.) The Porsche Carrera GT was last produced in 2006 but don't tell Gemballa, who is still cranking out some pretty amazing variations. The original car had a 5.7-liter V10 engine producing 612 bhp, which gave it a 0 to 62 mpg tme of 3.9 seconds and a max speed of 205 mph. Gemballa pushed the output up to 670 hp which shaved 2/10ths of a second off the zero to 100 km/h time and elevated the top speed to 208 mph.
The Gemballa Mirage GT Carbon Edition lives up to its name with carbon fiber used as the main component for all body parts. The Porsche Carrera GT already has a carbon fiber monocoque and subframe, so the car is really one big piece of composite with some wheels and a massive engine. The Mirage GT benefits from some substantial aerodynamic mods that were all vetted with considerable time in the wind tunnel. These include a new front apron with larger air inlets, updated front wings and bonnet and revised side skirts along with an upgraded diffuser, skirt stabilizers and bigger wing in the rear.
The Gemballa Mirage GT Carbon Edition is fitted with GT SPORT Forged wheels in sizes 19 x 9.5 in front and 20 x 12.5 in rear wrapped in low profile tires measuring 265/35 ZR19 and 335/30 ZR20 respectively. There is a cool electro-hydraulic height-adjustment feature that lifts the body up to 45 millimeters at the axle with the push of a button. The system will lower itself back down once the car reaches about 50 mph. We've seen this feature offered more and more with exotics in an attempt to make these track-cars-in-street-clothes better equipped to handle the parking lots, speed bumps and excessive curbs found in everyday city driving.
The Gemballa Mirage GT Carbon Edition will only set you back 298,000 euros or $425,000 dollars. Then you just have to provide them with the basic automobile. The base price of the Porsche Carrera GT when it was released was $444,400 USD. Only 1270 were produced, so who knows if someone will cut you a deal. You better hurry though, Gemballa is also keeping things low volume with only 5 units of the Carbon Edition being offered. Operators are standing by...
