edo competition Tweaks the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Because 457 hp is Just Not Enough

edo competition C63 AMG

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is, by most standards, an impressively powered and solid performance vehicle. It's outfitted with a V8 engine rated at 457 hp with 442 lb-ft of torque, which is better than about 99% of sport sedans on the market. But if you are the folks at edo competition, a German tuning house used to juicing up cars like the Ferrari California Spider and Lamborghini Murcielago LP 710, you see things through a different looking glass. The "verdict was unanimous" that this car just didn't have enough chutzpah. Enter the edo competition C63 AMG.

edo competition C63 AMG

Using a combination of a specially developed high-performance exhaust system with headers, high-flow catalytic converters, new air filters and a reworked ECU, power output was boosted to 555 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque. All of this makes the edo competition C63 AMG good for 0-62 mph runs in the 4.3 seconds range. And, with the top speed governor rendered combat ineffective, the car will max out at 199 mph. Did you ever think you'd see a Mercedes C-Class sedan capable of almost 200 mph?

The only external differences appear to be the wheel and tire package which features new ultra-lightweight 19 inch rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. There is also some minor decal work on the lower portion of the front doors for a little branding flair. In any case, edo competition offers individual requests for just about anything. All modifications are performed at their shop in Ahlen, Germany. The 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG goes for a base price of $55,975. So, expect this customization to be substantially north of that figure.
