2011 Maserati GranCabrio Will Be Unveiled At Frankfurt Motor Show 2009

2011 Maserati GranCabrio

It's been a long time coming, but Maserati has finally revealed the highly anticipated convertible model that will join the family and sit side-by-side with the Quattroporte and GranTurismo. As a preview to the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, where the car will make its official debut, a small collection of photos and basic details on the Maserati GranCabrio have been released. The Pininfarina-styled vehicle is the Trident car-maker's first four-seat convertible, and they have done a magnificent job.

Prior to this announcement, there was much conjecture on whether the 2011 GranCabrio would feature a cloth or hard-top roof and which engine from the company's current lineup would be used. The wait is over. The new Maserati will feature a cloth roof that saves space as well as weight. It will borrow the 4.7-liter V8 from the sporty GranTurismo S, which is good for 433 horsepower. This engine will be matched with the highly-regarded ZF six-speed automatic. Maserati also claims that their new convertible offers the longest wheelbase on the market.

As more photos and spec are released for the Maserati GranCabrio, at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 in mid-September, we'll provide an update. Look for a heavy marketing blitz starting next winter with a release scheduled for sprint 2011.
