Hot Import Nights (HIN) at 2009 Rivalry Nights Columbus – Cars
This past Friday, September 11th, marked the kick-off of the 2009 Rivalry Nights Tour with its first stop in Columbus, Ohio, where the event served as the ultimate tailgate party for the Ohio State vs USC football game. Put on by the same folks that host the Hot Import Nights events, the first ever Rivalry Nights show featured a wide-variety of activities including drifting exhibitions by NOS Energy, autocross racing, the Ball Up Streetball Tour, the Sterling Planet Green Show, the usual stellar HIN contest, motorcycling stunts, Noche Libre style wrestling, martial arts expos, interviews with special guest Warren Moon and a live concert headlined by Hank Williams Jr. It truly was a smorgasbord of activities. As always, Digital Age Motorsports, the event promoters, put on a great show with a little something for everyone.
I’ve always found that it’s really the crowd and the exhibitors that add special flavor to any event and Rivalry Nights didn’t disappoint with a strong showing from Columbus and surrounding areas. Keith, a tattoo master from Imperial Design Studio, walked me through his sick custom old school truck which we hope to feature at a later date. If you’re in the area and want some crazy ink, check this guy out. The ladies from Outcast LTD had lots of cool rock-and-roll style gear on display and were great to hang around with. If you are ever on N. High Street stop by their shop or go to outcast-ltd.com. I also met an Ohio promoter who’s starting up the Street Life Tour, which looks to be a standout event that will eventually be a national phenomenon. Their first outing is on September 19, 2009, in Xenia, Ohio. You can get more information at www.streetlifetour.com.
In any case, as a high-performance car enthusiast magazine, our focus is obviously on all of the cool rides and import models that were present at Rivalry Nights Columbus. Check back over the next several days as we’ll be posting images of the Go Go Dancers, HIN Girls and Rivalry Nights Girls. For now, check out some of the car standouts from the HIN Show:
